My definition of love is one that closely aligns with Sarg’s definition, that love equals acceptance (ok, it’s the same!). But for years I have also defined and therefore approached love the way Scott M. Peck does in ‘The Road Less Travelled‘. His perspective on love is that love is not a feeling, it is an activity and an investment. He defines love as:
“The will to extend one’s self for the purpose of nurturing one’s own or another’s spiritual growth.”
This calls for commitment. Commitment to your relationships, commitment to yourself. Not just when times are good, but also when times are tough. Not just when your body is feeling 100%, but all the time.
Yoga has become one of those relationships I am willing to extend myself for to nurture myself. It helps me grow: physically, emotionally and spiritually.
